From practice: collegial leadership in a hierarchical environment

As a service provider, the Management Consultancy department supports its affiliated companies in improving their range of services as well as their structures and processes. The aim was to increase customer orientation, build up expertise due to demographic change and make decisions faster and more directly.

In a hierarchical environment, we defined the degree of collegial leadership and transfer of responsibility. We established a new understanding of leadership and cooperation model. Participation, roles and the active transfer of professional responsibility, made new forms of leadership tangible. The department has practised short coordination channels and forms of decision-making and implemented forms of communication and meetings, including tools.

Result: Higher customer orientation, clear distribution and development of expertise, addressing and taking responsibility, high psychological safety, collegial cooperation
